Steel and standards

Built from high-grade stainless steel

Every Scalpra instrument starts with a deliberate choice of stainless steel. We select martensitic and austenitic alloys for corrosion resistance, edge retention, and a balanced weight that suits daily professional use.

Steel specification

Three steel criteria

The properties we test for are the ones that matter in practice, from the first use to the hundredth.

Corrosion resistance

Martensitic and austenitic stainless steel grades are selected to resist corrosion through repeated cleaning and sterilization cycles.

Edge retention

Blades and jaws are finished to hold a clean working edge, with sharpness assessed before each instrument leaves our workshop.

Ergonomic weight balance

Each instrument is balanced so the weight sits evenly in the hand, reducing fatigue during extended handling.

Before dispatch

Every instrument is checked by hand before packaging

Dimensional verification, alignment tests, and edge sharpness assessments are completed piece by piece. Autoclave compatibility and sterilization guidance are documented for every instrument line.
